Listening is far more than hearing

Listening is receiving sounds passively.

Listening is selecting the sounds that we want to hear and rejecting the others.

Not only our awakening, our attention capacity, the efficiency with which we deal with a piece of information but also the way we express ourselves depend on the way we listen.
Quality of listening also means emotional welfare, physical posture, body awareness, coordination of movements.
Good listening is a real source of energy for the nervous system.

Listening is a skill which can be trained.

Improve the listening function

How ?

A sound prepared in a laboratory in accordance with precise rules goes through a specific apparatus which modifies the hearing and enables our ears to open by interacting with filters and bascules. The message is then reproduced through headphones which give it back both in the air and into the bones.

The audio-psycho-phonological assessment :

It is meant to assess the hearing potential, the dysfunction, etc, so as to establish a customised programme.
It has to be done before taking any step. It includes :
- a series of tests
- an interview with Pierre Romain

The sessions :

The length, rhythm and planning of the sessions are different for each person and will be determined during the first interview.
The rhythm, which is very often intensive at the beginning of the session, corresponds to the training time necessary to achieve durable modification of the way we hear.

How does a session take place ?

- Sessions with electronic ear : 2 to 4 sessions, each of them lasting for half an hour. The rhythm of the sessions is determined by Pierre Romain.
- Tests, mini-tests and following-up interviews at regular intervals.
- This step can be completed by interviews or by sessions of speech therapy.

What is listened to

- Mozart's music, for it is full of harmonics, of joy, and of liberating structure.
- Gregorian songs, the slow rhythm of which brings us some relief that is often forgotten.
- Other kinds of music which enable us to explore our inner spaces.
- Nursery rhymes and tales for children
- Reading sessions or sessions in language labs during which words are repeated. These sessions are self-controlled by the electronic ear.

What can we do in session ?

"Let oneself be won over and feel like listening"
Drawing is the best activity : the hand lets itself go, stimulated by the starting up of the vestibular system, the mind stimulated by high pitch frequencies will let drop some memories and will create colours and varied forms.

The results :

This method enables you to feel like blooming and being in harmony with the world again. Any act of expression and communication is thereby freed, refined and enriched.
This step contributes to a better psychomotor and psycholinguistic awareness.
It allows to speed up other steps in process.
It is intended for musicians, for pregnant women, and for those who want to open up, to bloom and to achieve better welfare.
